Matheny may challenge Harwell

House Speaker Pro Tempore Judd Matheny, a Republican lawmaker from Tullahoma, says that he may look to remove the “Pro Tempore” from his title in this AP story.

The current Speaker of the House is Rep. Beth Harwell of Nashville.

    I know Judd, and he can count the votes. I’ll be surprised if, in the end, he decides to challenge Beth Harwell. He’s got a great job as Speaker Pro Tem, and he’ll not want to give that up unless he’s completely certain he can win the Speaker’s election.
