Tea party groups ask Alexander to retire ‘with dignity’

Fold up the plaid shirt and put the red pickup on blocks, say twenty tea party groups who have signed an open letter to U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander.

The letter, sent by Matt Collins of Nashville, states that the nation “can no longer afford compromise and bipartisanship.” It also reminds the longtime public servant that he once advised those interested in running for office to serve only two terms.

The Chattanooga Tea Party, headed by Mark West, is not among the co-signers.
