Early voting for the 2010 county primary elections ended on Thursday. The Chattanooga Times Free Press has a story by Dan Whisenhunt (on the front page of the Metro section) that compares turnout to the last county election. If you did not vote early, you can join me and vote on Election Day. The polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4.
Unlike early voting, on election days you must vote in your precinct’s polling place. Surprisingly, many people assume that the early-voting centers are open on election days as well, but they are not.
The county election commission’s website has a lookup tool for those who do not know their precinct and/or polling place. Look for “My Voting Information” about halfway down the front page. There are also links to sample ballots for each precinct. Even though this is “just” a primary election, in some positions Tuesday’s outcome will determine who gets sworn into office in September.
That’s about all I can do, folks, except maybe stand in the middle of Market Street and compete with the crazy screaming preachers. Please vote.
