Deeds done dirt cheap

Hamilton County Democratic Party Chairman Jeff Brown, who is running for Register of Deeds against incumbent Pam Hurst, says that the office does not need the new building that Hurst has proposed. From chattanoogan.com:

[Brown] said he is pleased that several County Commission members “expressed their opposition to the proposal by current Register Pam Hurst to spend nearly a half-million dollars on a new building during Monday’s budget hearing.”

He said, “I fully agree with the members of the commission that indicate this is wasteful spending, and that it should be eliminated. Reducing the size and role of government, while not a magic bullet, is clearly justified in this situation.”
