Tennessee voters go to the polls in 2012 to elect the following:
- 108th General Assembly (all 99 House of Representatives seats and approximately one-half of the Tennessee Senate)
- U.S. House of Representatives (all 9 districts)
- U.S. Senate, Class 1 (what does “Class 1″ mean?)
- Special elections, as required
- Oh yeah, President of the United States of America.
Locally, Hamilton County voters will elect approximately one-half of its Board of Education, and there is a special election for County Mayor, given that current Mayor Jim Coppinger was appointed by the Hamilton County Commission following a vacancy in January 2011.
All the above legislative districts are being redrawn as part of the decennial redistricting that follows each national census, as per the United States Constitution. Be sure you follow this activity so that you know in which district you reside when it is time to vote.
